Part of the Best 10 Singapore Glossary › Tech & Gadgets › Chemical Wash

An aircon chemical wash is a deep cleaning service where a technician partially dismantles your air conditioning unit and cleans its internal components using chemical solutions. It goes significantly further than a standard general service.

Chemical Wash vs General Servicing

ServiceWhat’s DonePrice (SGD)
General ServicingFilter clean, coil wipe, check drainage$25–$50/unit
Chemical WashChemical flush of coils, fan, drain tray — removes mould & bacteria$80–$150/unit
Chemical OverhaulFull dismantle, chemical soak of all parts, reassemble & test$150–$250/unit

When Do You Need a Chemical Wash?

  • Your aircon has a musty or mouldy smell
  • It’s been over 12 months since the last deep clean
  • The unit is not cooling effectively despite regular servicing
  • You see black spots or discolouration around the vents
  • Water is dripping more frequently than usual

In Singapore’s humidity, mould and bacteria grow inside aircon units rapidly. A chemical wash eliminates these effectively and is recommended every 12–18 months for residential units.
